This page is just to highlight and share movies or music that I found to be particularly special. Sometimes, the most quirky and nearly unknown movies can charm and affect me the most.
As for music, I like to share music that either brings back certain memories from long ago or even before my time. I also like to discover new music that gives me hope that there are people making music that will carry on the torch for the classics and legends of the past.
I do not like to go to movie theaters, but for this movie I was urged to see it by Molly and Dan who were both excited to see it for a second time. I am so glad that I let them talk me into it. This is a movie I will hold dear for the rest of my life.

On so many levels this touched on to things that hit very close to home for me. As a child, my family moved a lot and I understand whole heartedly the angst and awkwardness that Riley was feeling as she withdrew into herself. Being the new kid is one of the hardest things a kid can endure growing up.
On another level, as a parent of a little girl very much like Riley, it is a fact that childhood is a fleeting time, it goes by so quickly. I don't want to forget a moment of my child's precious life and this sweet time being able to share it with her.
I urge you to see this movie if you can and be ready to laugh a lot and cry a little.

The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. I had heard this was a good movie and that it was very sad, the kind of movie you're best to watch alone so you can have a good cry with no one to make fun of you for being sensitive or silly. I must say it was sad and yet filled with such sweet pure love, that it just left me with an appreciation for how precious life is and for some, how cruelly brief it can be. As Augustus Waters said, "The earth is not a wish-granting factory."

This movie had my heart transfixed from the opening scene and on through to the wrenching conclusion. Little Liesel's story is one of survival through so much more than a war. This movie became one of my all time favorites. The emotional journey it took me on was one I'll never forget.

While subjected to the horrors of World War II Germany, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. In the basement of her home, a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents.

Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World
On the surface, it would seem this movie would be bleak and depressing, when it is actually anything but that. Steve Carell and Keira Knightly were an unlikely perfect match in this heartwarming, beautiful and sweetly sad movie about finding out what really matters the most in life.
About the movie:
As an asteroid nears Earth, a man finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan.
