Little Daisy Scout

Her year of being a Daisy Scout is over.  We'll have the Bridging to Brownies Ceremony in a few weeks.  Even though we missed that first year, this short time has been fun.  We're looking forward to being a Brownie next year.

On her birthday, we had a tour of our local fire station in Farragut.  The fire fighters were very nice and made it fun for the girls.

They got to sit in the driver's seat...and so did I.  This thing is huge, I don't see how they maneuver these trucks through traffic.  Here she is with a buddy in front of the truck....not the little good luck charm bunny rabbit in the window.  I always look for it when I see the truck around town.  By the way, they're not Dallas Cowboys fans...but Farragut Admirals Supporters, in case you're noticing that blue star on the truck.

Here we all are with the fire fighters.  It really was interesting to see the trucks and facilities up close.  After this, we headed home for a little birthday time.

Molly's 7th Birthday!

The kiddo had her 7th Birthday on April 23.  It was a Thursday, so we had a little celebration with just the 3 of us and she went to school and Girl Scouts as usual.  We got her some vibrant colors daisies in honor of her Daisy Scouts, which she loves.  And we had some cupcakes with candles to blow out.

We gave Molly the presents from us on her birthday, knowing that she'll also get a few more from her friends on Saturday at the party.  We gave her new clothes, summer dresses and sandals, a board game, some purple kinetic sand, a small Spirograph set, a singing Digi-bird, hair chalk and hair doo-dads, several little toy horses, real cowgirl boots and a trip to Build-a-Bear Workshop where she got a Golden Retriever named Emily with pajamas and slippers.

Dan wears the same yellow Life Is Good shirt on her birthday every year.  It's what he happened to be wearing in the delivery room the day she was born.  Years and years from now, check back in and you'll see him wearing it at every birthday from now on.

We had several of Molly's friends over on Saturday for her party....Jane, her friend since Kindergarten, Erin, her friend from the bus, and Lauren, her 1st Grade friend, along with her brother Leo and sister Meredith.

The original plan was to go to a nearby park and let them all play and ride bikes while we had a picnic style lunch on blankets and lawn chairs in the shade outside.  But the weather was threatening rain and lightning, so we stayed home and used our nearly empty living room as a play area.  We played charades and other games before having lunch and cake.

The balloons were a huge hit with the kids....cheap fun is usually the best kind.



Lauren, Meredith, Jane, Erin and Molly as she opened the gifts.  She got some paintable flower pots, and Etch-a-Sketch, a Build a Fort kit, art supplies and sketch books, beaded jewelry making kit, butterfly wall art....all cool and creative things.  Her bus driver even gave her a little beanie baby teddy bear.  So many thoughtful people and wonderful gifts.

We also want to send out a special "thank you" those of you who sent her the sweet cards and gifts and money.  She's a great kid, we love her with all our hearts and souls and can't imagine this life or a world without her in it.
