Snow Days

Our pretty puppy and the first few flakes of snow before the big storm about to come.  To get this focused look, I had Molly make a snowball and just hold it down low while I snapped a few close ups of Lizzie.  There is such an intensity in her eyes, such intelligence...but in reality, I'm sure she's thinking "Ball, throw ball, throw ball, ball, I want to catch ball, throw ball...."

Our pretty little human child all bundled up for the cold weather.  She's thinking..."I love snow, let's make a snowman, let's go sledding!"  There's not enough snow quite yet...be patient.

We just got a huge golf umbrella for our walks to the bus stop on these weathery mornings with rain and snow.  It's hard for Molly to open a car door by herself which makes for a challenging get away once the big bus shows up...so we just stand in the elements while all the others sit in their cars.  It's much easier our way anyway, especially with our huge umbrella.

We played in the light falling snow until late in the afternoon.

But later that night.......

It whirled with snow all night long and well into the morning.  School had been cancelled long before, thank goodness.  We had three school days off due to the snowstorm.

It is so pretty seeing everything layered so deeply with the fluffy snow....so peaceful and quiet.

From our front window looking down the street the snow was so deep but it looks like a city snowplow had already been working in our neighborhood.

Looking up our street.

You couldn't even find our driveway.  It's just one smooth blanket of white across all our yard and our neighbor's to the corner.

So pretty, like an icy park.

Our redbud tree.

To her, it looked like a wintery fairyland.  She was ready to go play in the snow right then.  It should be noted that it was just after 7am when these photos were taken...Mommy wasn't quite as eager to play in the snow at that hour.  Let's just enjoy the view from inside.

So, we did.

From the dining room window looking up the hill in our backyard.

Molly's little playhouse looked so sweet in the snow, like Hansel and Gretel might wander upon it.

Somehow, the snow made the playhouse look so tiny.

Snow in the crepe myrtle tree.

The first few moments of blue skies returning.

Time to play!!
Kind of reminds me of that scene from Indiana Jones....you know the one?  Daddy was working on a big snowman, Molly was so helpful too.

Making sure her playhouse was alright.

The snow was perfect for making snowballs.  Somebody sure loved catching snowballs and then eating them.

We've finally gotten plenty of use out of the sled Santa brought two years ago!  Lizzie broke the pulling cord...of course.

Look out for that leaning bulky hulk of a snowman.

Dan was shoveling the sidewalk and Molly was looking for the perfect spot to make a snow angel.  I told her that snow angels are the last thing you do before going back inside.  She didn't understand why until she realized how cold and wet she was getting.

She plopped down about 20 times all over the front yard....it was hilarious.

Our snow angel.
