Highlights from Fall

I'm still trying to get caught up on our blog.  Here are some of the most special moments during fall:  From the Fall Festival at the Primary School, the brilliant colors in our own back yard, races at school, horses in a field near where I work, Halloween with our friends and neighbors and our special day at Deep Well Farm for corn maze and hay ride fun.

Molly was overjoyed after running in a race at school.

Horses in the field across from where I work.  It was such a peaceful view to enjoy before heading into work.

Molly's 2nd Grade classes at the Fall Festival music program.

Molly in the middle with her friends singing in the program.

Love this kid.

Molly and I at Deep Well Farm.  You must go here with us if you come out for a visit....such a pleasant place to spend the day.

Molly and Daddy on the hay ride.

Picking out a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.

We found some cute pumpkins on our hay ride.

The perfect fall photo spot.

First time on a tire swing.  Behind her is a hillside slide.

Running up the hill to ride the slide down.

Such a pretty fall color view from my chair.

There is a place to see farm animals at Deep Well Farm too.  Here she's looking at a pony and a donkey.

These roosters had such attitude and were quite pretty.

Sometimes, all you can do is watch your child running off to play.  She had so much fun.

Old tractors on display at Deep Well.

Molly and her pal Erin and her sister Amelia...all ready to go Trick-or-Treating.

Erin and Molly...and our milk jug ghost-lights.

Amelia, Molly and Erin...ready to go.

We met up with the dark side...Mike and his 3 boys from down the street.

At Susan's house across the street.

Susan and Delaney...so sweet...we love them.

Dad's visit

My dad came out for a week long visit back in early December for our yearly "between Thanksgiving and Christmas" visit.

Here we are walking around the Christmas lights at Campbell Station Park.

Trees for the Firefighters, Police and Military.

We always get our photo inside the colored light trees.

She loves it here.

On the bridge over Turkey Creek in the park.

Helping Molly ride her bike (without training wheels) in the soft grass.

She fell down a lot.

While he's here, we always try to get a home project done.  This year, we chose to add a little trim work to the boring front stairwell.

Before, with my blue tape marks to envision the plan.

As it is now.  It still needs to be painted from the chair rail to the baseboard.

We also enlisted his help and truck to bring home an antique china hutch we had on lay away.  This was a really great find...so perfect for this space.

Before with nothing in it...

Now it houses our wedding china, crystal, depression glass and various family heirloom treasures.

Thanks Dad for all your help and time well spent!  We always enjoy your visits with us and wish you were closer.

Mom's visit

I've been terrible about keeping the family blog up to date.  I guess because Disney World was just such a hugely photographic time that the 1,000's of photos we took, it was hard to break it down into a few entries.  Maybe that could be it's own web page one day?

Anyway, I need to write about a few other events that happened last fall and then we'll get into the New Year's events little by little.

For starters, I was happy to have my mom come out to visit us from Texas.  She spent a week with us and we toured several of Knoxville's prominent attractions.  We went downtown to the Sunsphere to check out the city and river views, we ate bbq by the river, went to the Fall Festival at Molly's school and did some shopping here and there.

I think she enjoyed herself and spending time with Molly.  I wish she could come out more often.  We are hoping to go out to her new home in Texas later in the summer.

Here we are at The Sunsphere.

Here is Molly's 2nd Grade classmates getting ready to present a music program for us.

My pretty girl.

We met up with one of Molly's friends from her 1st Grade class.  I loved it when she said, "Molly, she's such a sweet girl!"  From a child, that is extra precious.

Mom and Molly just before she was heading back home.
We miss you.
